Situated in the hills of Yelagiri amidst greenery, the twin bamboo cottages are where one co-exists with the nature around. The client’s request was a log house with bamboo, while conventionally, log houses are built of wood. Construction had to be fast and simple. The challenge was to anchor the bamboo in place, since there is less surface area for contact between the two. Steel rod connections were introduced between courses and between the two layers, and alternated at regular intervals to make it more stable structurally. The cottages are built on stilts as the area receives heavy rainfall. The dining and kitchen are located on the valley side such that they overlook the jungle across the pond.
